Shorewood boys take 1-1 record into Tuesday game at Lakes after Friday loss to Mariner

The Shorewood boys' basketball team takes a 1-1 record into a Tuesday game at Lakes High School of the South Puget Sound 3A League after a 42-40 home loss to 4A Mariner Friday.

Shorewood and Lakes meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lakes High School south of Tacoma, with junior-varsity and C-team games at 5:15.

Class 3A Shorewood lost to 4A Mariner after opening its season three days earlier with a 73-48 home victory over 3A Ingraham of Seattle.

In the loss to Mariner Friday, Shorewood led 7-5 after the first quarter but trailed 15-14 at halftime and 28-25 after three quarters and couldn't close the gap in the final period. Zane Hopen led the Thunderbirds with 13 points, followed by Taylor Freeman with 11.
