Shorewood boys basketball team takes 2-0 Wesco 3A record into Friday game

The Shorewood boys' basketball team takes a Western Conference 3A South division-leading 2-0 Wesco 3A record (3-2 overall) into a Friday game at Mountlake Terrace (1-0 Wesco 3A, 4-1) after a 69-55 victory at Meadowdale Tuesday.

Shorewood and Mountlake Terrace meet at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Mountlake Terrace High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40 and "C" teams playing at 3:45.

In Shorewood's victory over Meadowdale, the Thunderbirds led 16-12 after the first quarter and 30-25 at halftime before opening a commanding 52-38 lead after three quarters and coasting to the 69-55 victory. Shorewood senior center Josh Hawkinson scored 30 points, and junior guard Taylor Freeman scored 15. The Shorewood junior varsity lost to Meadowdale, 66-58. The Thunderbird "C" team defeated Meadowdale, 46-43. 

Hawkinson has scored 66 points in three games for an average of 22.0 points per game. Freeman has scored 57 points in five games for an average of 11.4. Junior guard Zane Hopen has scored 46 in five games for an average of 9.2.
