Shoreline and Lake Forest Park vote alike on issues and governor
Monday, December 10, 2012
Seattle Times' precinct by precinct analysis of voting on selected issues and races in the last election shows that Shoreline and Lake Forest Park were quite homogeneous in their views.
1. Moderate to strong rejection of Charter Schools. It didn't work, the initiative passed anyway.
2. Strong support for Jay Inslee as Governor, with the exception of The Highlands, which went strongly for Rob McKenna.
3. Strong support for legalizing marijuana.
4. Along with the rest of north and central King County, strong support for same-sex marriage.
Red - rejected by 60% or more
Pink - rejected by 50-60%
Dark Green - approved by 60% or more
Pale Green - approved by 50-60%
Same Sex Marriage - precinct voting

The next phase begins. Watch closely readers, as the conversation starts on a merger between the Cities of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.
Won't happen. First, you have community ego. LFP has been a city longer than Shoreline. Second, LFP is actually balanced in its budget and spending. It actually hold a better position for long term stability than Shoreline because of Shoreline's reckless spending in recent years. You may see more combining of services such as what LFP and Kenmore have done in regards to Public Works.
You are splitting hairs. The dialogue will be about consolidation. The endgame of consolidation is one town. I am not saying they will succeed. I hope they fail. But they will try. They already share the school district; next the water utilities. Can't you feel the heat? Ribbbittttt!
