Shorecrest boys play non-league games at 2A Cedarcrest Saturday

The Shorecrest boys' basketball team plays a non-league game at Class 2A Cedarcrest Saturday, after a Tuesday home loss to Glacier Peak dropped the Scots to 0-2 in Western Conference 3A play (3-2 overall).

Shorecrest and Cedarcrest meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at Cedarcrest High School in Duvall, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at 5 p.m. The Shorecrest "C" team played Thursday at King's.

Cedarcrest leads the Cascade 2A/1A Conference with a 3-0 record and has a 3-4 overall record, with three of the losses coming against 3A or 4A teams.

In Shorecrest's 51-48 loss to Glacier Peak Tuesday, the Scots trailed 15-7 after the first quarter, 35-20 at halftime and 48-36 after three quarters before a fourth-quarter rally fell short when Shorecrest missed a 3-point attempt in the final second.

Mssamba Njadoe led Shorecrest against Glacier Peak with19 points. Teammate Benny Ortega scored 13.

The Shorecrest junior varsity defeated Glacier Peak, 43-34, Tuesday, after the Scot JVs had won a home game from Lake Stevens Saturday, Dec. 8, 66-41, and lost for the first time this season at Bothell Monday, 63-62. The JVs have a 6-1 overall record (2-0 Wesco 3A).

The Shorecrest "C" team defeated Glacier Peak, 43-40, Tuesday after losing to Lake Stevens, 52-40, Saturday. The "C" team had a 3-3 overall record (1-1 Wesco 3A) going into the Thursday game at King's.

Alex Horning leads the Shorecrest varsity in scoring for the season with 68 points in 5 games for an average of 13.6 points per game.
