Mark August 13th on your calendar for the 2013 North City Jazz Walk!
The North City Business Association (NCBA) announced the date at its November board meeting.

NCBA Board President Gary East declared, “The 2012 Jazz Walk was a rousing success in every way: People came to enjoy Jazz Bites, all music venues were packed to capacity, and more merchants than ever participated in the event.”

The Jazz Walk drew wonderful crowds of jazz lovers and families who strolled 15th Avenue NE on a gorgeous, balmy evening under a star-studded sky. The three outdoor venues made it possible for families with small children to enjoy music while the “club scene” in the indoor venues offered a more intimate atmosphere with food and beverages.

Artistic Director Keith McClelland is already working on the lineup for 2013. Says McClelland, “The North City Jazz Walk is now a staple for jazz artists in our region.  We can choose from a great selection of ensembles to offer a variety of high-quality performances. “

Once again, the City of Shoreline, the Journal Media Group, and the S/LFP Arts Council will partner with the Jazz Walk as will the loyal volunteer corps under the guidance of Charlotte Haines, Scott Keeny, and Ellen Sullivan. Last year’s director, Robin McClelland, is passing the torch.   She has summer plans that prevent her from taking the reins again, but says she will gladly train a new director to produce a successful event.

According to McClelland, “Everything is in order for someone to step in and assume the job.  It takes good organizational skills and a lot of time, but every minute is worth the effort.”

The NCBA will interview applicants in early 2013. If you are interested in submitting a request, contact Gary East.
