PAWS currently has more than 150 kittens and puppies that need homes right away.
There's a traffic jam at PAWS this month, but it's not in the parking lot. Our shelter is filled bumper-to-bumper (and top to bottom) with kittens and puppies!
Kitten and puppy season is generally understood to take place in the spring and summer months, when the weather is warmer and the days are longer.
But not this year.
"The amount of kittens and puppies continues to be extraordinary for this time of year" says Kay Joubert, Director of Companion Animal Services at PAWS.“We routinely have 8-10 kittens on the surgery schedule every day, and sometimes up to 15. We’re responding as best we can to make sure these vulnerable animals are taken care of.”
If you've been considering adding a puppy or kitten to your family, now would be a great time to do it! Please visit our Adoptions page for more information, or to fill out an adoption form online.
Kittens available for adoption at our Cat City location, and puppies and kittens available at the Lynnwood shelter—stop by either of these locations for a visit!

I LOVE the idea of PAWS-- and, am so very thankful for the many wonderful employees and volunteers that work so hard on behalf of vulnerable animals.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the FACT that PAWS has ridiculous rules governing who they will and won't allow to adopt an animal makes me feel very sorry for the numerous little ones that are causing the shelter to be overly full.
I was denied a kitten because I was honest and said I had 2 children-- Boys who were young. Ridiculous. I have a friend who was denied a kitten because she wouldn't promise to keep the cat inside all of the time.
PAWS SAYS that they really, really want to adopt out all of these little guys.
I'm telling you, if you want to help and you have young children-- LIE about it and leave them with a sitter when you go to the shelter.. cats and kids are a GREAT mix for both--and PAWS is silly in this regard.
Also, deciding that ALL CATS should be kept inside ALL OF THE TIME is inane. Yep-- animals who go outside get hurt and killed more often. Just like people. It's a risk that we take and it is really ok. (Sometimes terribly sad-- but much better than living in a cage)
