The Dolphin Men’s Soccer team took on Whatcom Community College Wednesday at Dolphin Field and was able to pull off their first tie. This is a step in the right direction for the Dolphin team that has come out on the losing side in every game prior.

SCC forward Tsubasa Takahashi opened up the game with a breakaway goal 20 minutes into the game. Whatcom struggled in the first half continually hitting the goal posts and could not counter the goal by Takahashi.

Opening the second half Whatcom came out with significant energy. There were Whatcom’s Davis Strawn scored off of a foul kick on the sideline from his teammate Ryo Matsubara. The momentum continued and in the 85th minute Daniel Pinkerton of Whatcom scored on a breakaway.

SCC did not give up hope and in the 87th minute Javier Perez scored a goal assisted by Victor Labarthe. Both teams continued to battle in the last few minutes of play but were unable to convert and the game ended in a tie 2-2.

Shoreline Men’s Soccer now has a record of 0-13-1 ending their prior losing streak. WCC picks up their first conference tie and now has a record of 6-4-2. SCC Men’s Soccer will go to Edmonds Community College for their next game on Saturday, October 27th at 2:15pm, directly following the SCC Women’s Soccer game against Edmonds.
