On a perfect night out for football, and in front of a spirited overflow crowd, Keegan Small's two TD runs in the final quarter powered the Shorecrest Scots past the Shorewood T-Birds in the Rotary Cup Game, 23-17.
The win marked the ninth straight win for the Scots over the T-Birds, who now lead the series 24-10.
For a while it looked like this would be the T-Birds' year, as they led at the half, 10-7. They extended their lead to 17-7 on a 40 yard blast by Levy Diaz with 7:34 to play in the third quarter.
But the Scots responded by scoring the game's final sixteen points.
Sam Schober's 32 yard field goal with 3 minutes to play in the third cut the T-Birds' lead to 17-10.
Shorecrest tied the game on Small's first TD, a 3-yard run with six minutes to play. The score was set up by punter Schober's 13 yard run on fourth-and-eleven near mid-field, when he rolled out to his right (as if to kick the ball rugby style) and just kept on going until he'd gotten the first down.
On their next possession, Shorewood was stopped on fourth-and-short in their own territory.

Shorecrest responded by marching the ball down the field, with Small shedding tired T-Bird tacklers on his way to the end zone from 19 yards out with 2:39 to play.
Shorewood's final chance was thwarted when Nick Hendricks intercepted an Aaron Miller pass near midfield with just over a minute to play in the game.
