-Saturday's high temperature
-Next week a little cooler compared to the weekend.
-Last week's weather data
As of Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 6:42pm PDT the National Weather Service of Seattle has issued a heat advisory in effect until 8pm PDT Sunday August 5, 2012.
The following is a message from the National Weather Service of Seattle.
Temperatures are expected to top out in the low to mid 90's in most places Sunday afternoon.
Impacts: The hot spell will lure many to area lakes and rivers this weekend. If you plan to be in or near open water, be water safe and wear a life jacket.Precautionary actions: Take extra precaution if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by the heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 911.
Although Seattle Tacoma International Airport recorded a high temperature of 93°F, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park were a little cooler, topping in at a high of 87.3°F Saturday Afternoon. Digging through my weather data archive I found that last summer our highest temperature was 84.9°F, on July 24, 2011. Year before we had 93.9°F on July 8, 2010, and 93.7°F August 15, 2010. If we break 90°F Sunday afternoon it will be our first 90°F in two years!
After our warm and sunny weekend it looks like we will cool down to a more normal summer weather pattern. Monday may still be into the low 80's, however the rest of the week looks like we will have a marine air flow influence again. Morning clouds and and afternoon sun with the highs running in the neighborhood of the mid 70's.
