BrewFest welcomes new breweries Saturday

Monday, August 6, 2012

New breweries will be represented at the 4-Corners BrewFest this Saturday, August 11, 2012, joining the couple dozen who are happily returning from last year's event. The new ones include 7 Seas, Schooner Exact, and Reuben's Brews. (See previous article on BrewFest).

7 Seas Brewing from Gig Harbor

Formed in 2008 by Travis Guterson and Mike Runion, 7 Seas Brewing is an innovative craft brewery, making audacious, yet technically well-executed beers; utilizing cans rather than bottles; and championing environmental stewardship.

Having survived a fire at their original location which delayed their opening by six months, they now occupy a 3,000 square foot brewing facility superbly located in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Schooner Exact Brewing Company

In 2006, homebrewing pals Marcus Connery and Matt and Heather McClung decided to take their hobby to the next level and go pro. Purchasing a half-barrel system, they began brewing a keg of beer at a time out of an ActivSpace unit under the West Seattle Bridge. Beginning in January 2007, they distributed their beer to restaurants and taprooms all over the city of Seattle.

As demand for their beers increased, the Schooner EXACT founders expanded into a larger, 10 -barrel system. The brewery moved to the South Park neighborhood in early 2009, and to its current SODO location on 1st Avenue in 2010. After Marcus Connery passed the reins of the brewery over to Heather and Matt to pursue the next chapter in his beer adventures by opening a beer broker/ consulting business, Matt and Heather quit their teaching jobs to pursue their brewery dreams full time.

Reuben's Brews
We are a small, family owned and operated brewery located in Ballard in Seattle, WA.  We are opening on Sunday August 5th, 2012!  We will have a cozy taproom where you can meet with friends, sample and learn about our beers, and pick up a growler to enjoy elsewhere!  As a small, craft brewery operating on an artisan scale, we can’t guarantee broad distribution of our truly seasonal brews.  We hope you make the trip often to imbibe our frequently changing brews and become a part of the Reuben’s Brews Family.

Breaking News... Schooner EXACT will be unable to pour this year, but is being replaced by Stone Brewing. We look forward to welcoming Schooner at next year's event, and are pleased that Stone is stepping in!
