Lots going on at the Senior Center in July

You do not have to be a Senior Citizen, nor do you have to be a member of the Senior Center to participate in most of the activities. However, some activities are priced by age and/or membership. Call 206-365-1536 for more information.

Here is the list of activities planned for the month of July 2012.

Cooking with Chef Janice
The June class is on Wednesday, July 11th at 1:30 p.m. The cooking class in July will highlight seasonal Farmers Market offerings like summer squash, all the greens and several fruits are available. Please reserve your space by signing up at the front desk.  Fee: Members $5, Non-Members $7.00

Kitchen Corner News from Chef Janice
Hello Summer!  Now that we are in the 6th month of our in-house menu lunch program, I want to thank all of you that have participated.  Without your loyalty, support and monetary donations this program would not have had such a great success.  We just recently topped 1795 meals in one month; that is great, keep it up!

Kitchen herb garden volunteer, Sally Yamasaki, would like to form a group called, “Friends of the Garden” to help Janice manage the herb garden that she has started to grow herbs to bring even more freshness to her already mouthwatering menu.  If you are interested in joining this group, please give your name and phone number to Janice at the Shoreline-LFP Senior Center.

Birthday Celebration, Thursday, July 19th
The Shoreline-LFP Senior Center provides a free lunch for current members celebrating their birthday.  The Birthday Lunch is always a very special meal.  In July you will get to enjoy, Chicken Asparagus Crepes in a white wine sauce, cranberry chutney, rice, string beans with roasted red peppers, birthday cake. Entertainment, birthday cake and prizes are part of the fun.   Meal starts at 11:45 a.m. Arrive early to assure you will have a seat.  A $3.00 donation for seniors 60 and older is recommended, participants under 60 can enjoy this meal for $6.00.

French Heritage Meal, July 24th
Oo La La! Enjoy a taste of France at the Shoreline-LFP Senior Center.  The meal will include roasted lemon rosemary chicken, spinach soufflĂ©, apple glazed carrots, tomato Roquefort salad, roll with butter, & a profiterole (Cream puff). The celebration will be sponsored by Chateau Pacific in Lynnwood. Meal starts at 11:45 a.m.  Arrive early to assure you will have a seat.  A $3.00 donation for seniors 60 and older is recommended, participates under 60 can enjoy this meal for $6.00.

Driftwood Sculpture (A NEW Class!)
Learn how to transform rough wood into a beautiful sculpture.  Begins Friday, Sept. 14th 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.  Fee $5.00 for current members and $7.00 for non-members.  The instructor will have basic tools available for $15.

Market Bucks available now!
The Lake Forest Park Farmer’s Market is open Sundays, 11am to 4pm.  It is located at the Lake Forest Park Towne Center.  $2.00 Market Bucks are available now at the Senior Center until October 21st.  These Market Bucks are sponsored through the Friends of the Third Place Commons and are for the Lake Forest Park Farmer’s Market only.  Come by the Shoreline-LFP Senior Center to pick them up.

Class cancellations
During the summer there are several class cancellations.  If you haven’t been to a class in awhile, it would be good to call to make sure the class is meeting during the summer.
