Eight Shorewood soccer players, one from Shorecrest on all-Wesco first team

Eight Shorewood boys’ soccer players and one from Shorecrest have won positions on the all-Wesco 3A first team.

In addition, three Shorewood players and seven Shorecrest players won spots on the second team.

Shorewood senior forward Andreas Gobel, senior midfielder Eugene Holley; senior midfielder Hayk Avanesyan, senior midfielder Trevor Cronin, senior defender Matthew Pettersen, senior defender Dodge Schaeffer, senior goal keeper Daniel Nadeau, and junior defender Sam Jang, and Shorecrest senior midfielder Callum Wijelath, were named to the 18-member first team.

Shorewood junior forward Dawda Dibba; junior forward Abdul Abdulla and sophomore midfielder Daniel Han, and Shorecrest senior midfielder Brennan Millea, senior defender Cole Hildahl, junior forward Alex Chang, junior forward Axel Wickstrom, junior defender Alex Ramsey, junior defender Ryan Vanderveen and sophomore midfielder Daniel Han won spots on the second team.

Honorable mention went to Owusu Fordjour and Matthew Owen of Shorewood, and Chris Iacolucci, Alex Musar, Griffin Over and Sam Schober of Shorecrest.

Shorewood won both the Wesco 3A and Northwest District 3A championships before the Thunderbirds’ 20-game winning streak ended in the State quarterfinals. Shorecrest had an 8-6-3 season record.
