Shorewood holds No. 1 State soccer ranking, extends record to 15-0 with Monday home victory over Oak Harbor


Shorewood continues to hold the No. 1 position in State 3A soccer rankings.

Our news partner, the Seattle Times, released rankings Monday.

Shorewood holds a 15-0 record after a 9-0 home victory over Oak Harbor Monday.

No. 2 ranked Bainbridge has an 11-1-3 record going into its final regular season game against Metro League rival Bishop Blanchet.

Shorewood finishes its regular season with a Wednesday game at Glacier Peak. The Northwest District 3A tournament Starts Saturday.

Shorewood and Glacier Peak meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Glacier Peak High School. Junior varsity teams from the two schools meet at 5:30.

In Shorewood’s 9-0 victory over Oak Harbor at Shoreline Stadium Monday, Taj McChesney scored two goals and assisted on a third; Dawda Dibba had a goal and an assist; Owusu Fordjour, Matthew Owen, Abdul Abdulla, Andreas Gobel, Nathan Boyd and Eugene Holley scored goals; Matt Pettersen had two assists; Hayk Avanesyan, Evan Strandberg and Sam Jang had assists; and goalkeeper Daniel Nadeau recorded his 14th shutout in 15 games.
