SCC Softball Splits With Douglas College


The Lady Dolphin Softball Team split with Douglas College from Vancouver, BC on Tuesday in a NWAACC Northern region doubleheader at Shoreview Park.

In Game 1, SCC met up with a dominant pitcher from Douglas and by the end, had only 1 hit, 16 strikeouts and no runs, as DC won the game 6-0. Alia Kelly took the loss for the Dolphins as the Royals scored 2 runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings for the win. Vallen Brewer had the only hit for SCC.

In Game 2, SCC dominated on offense, as Vallen Brewer had 5 RBIs with a double and homerun to lead SCC to the 9-3 win. SCC led 4-1 after three innings and blew the game open with a 5 run 4th inning. Chelsea Lindroth collected 3 hits and Alia Kelly and Kelsie Mason added 2 hits each.

Mason started the game on the mound and got the win, but Sophia Overlock-Pauley came in the game in the 4th and shut the Royals down the rest of the way with only 1 hit.

SCC is now 15-12-2 on the season and 10-4 in NWAACC Northern Region. Douglas moved to 12-16 overall and 7-7 in the region. 

SCC has big games this weekend, as the Lady Dolphins face Olympic College on Friday at 1:00 PM at Shoreview Park. OC moved into 2nd place in the region based on percentage points after the SCC split. Olympic is 19-7 overall and 13-5 in the region. The Rangers have won 10 games in a row.

SCC then faces league leading Bellevue College on Sunday, at the University of Washington Softball Field. BC is 32-3 on the year and 16-0 in the Northern Region. Bellevue is ranked #5 in the NWAACC.
