Shoreline Library is hosting Free Comic Book Day on May 5th. Starting at 10am they will be handing out free comics while supplies last. Plus, members of Seattle’s Garrison Titan will be on hand to dressed as some of your favorite Star Wars characters. Have your picture taken with them while getting some free comics.
At noon, enjoy a little friendly competition and some snacks at a special edition of Game On! where you can play Xbox 360 and Wii games based on popular comics.
Finally at 2pm, award winning artist Matthew Southworth will be presenting Making Comics Like You Mean It: From Sketch to Store: a discussion and demonstration of the language and process of visual storytelling, from rough idea to tools and techniques to working for a publisher. Draw, write and learn to express ideas in graphic, serial form-in other words, you will be making comics!
Attendees for the Southworth class must be between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. Sign up for this class by calling the library at 206-362-7550 or registering online.
The Shoreline Library is located at 345 NE 175th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155. For more information, contact Teen Services Librarian Rick Orsillo at 206-362-7550 x102.
