Eighth-seeded Shorecrest softball team opens District tournament Tuesday against top-seeded Everett


The Shorecrest softball team opens the Northwest District 3A tournament against top-seeded Everett Tuesday.
            
Shorecrest goes into the tournament as the sixth place team in the Western Conference 3A Division with a 7-9 Wesco 3A record (11-9 overall) after losing two of three games last week.
            
Everett won the Wesco 3A championship with a 15-1 record (19-1 overall).
            
Shorecrest and Everett meet at Janicki Fields in Sedro Woolley at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The tournament continues later Tuesday, and Thursday and Saturday at the same site, with the top two teams advancing to the State 3A tournament the following week.
            
The Scots lost a 9-0 home game to Glacier Peak Monday, May 7, won a 10-0 game at Marysville Getchell Tuesday and lost 12-2 at Lynnwood Wednesday.

In Shorecrest’s 9-0 home loss to Glacier Peak Monday, Glacier Peak broke the game open with 5 runs in the final inning. Olivia Nolan hit a double for the Scots. Amanda Eshelman was the losing pitcher

Shorecrest’s 10-0 victory at Marysville Getchell Tuesday was shortened to five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Eshelman pitched a one-hitter, facing the minimum, and went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Anisa Gomez hit a double for the Scots, and Nolan and Katie Chamboux hit triples.

Shorecrest’s 12-2 loss at Lynnwood Wednesday was shortened from seven innings to six by the mercy rule when Glacier Peak scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Champoux hit a double for the Scots.  Eshelman was the losing pitcher.
