The Shorecrest baseball team completed a two-game sweep over Shorewood with an 8-7 home victory over Shorewood Friday. Shorecrest had defeated Shorewood 7-6 on Shorewood’s home Meridian Park field Wednesday.
The two victories kept the Scots in first place in the Western Conference 3A division with a 4-0 division record (6-1 overall). Shorewood has a 0-2 Wesco 3A record (1-4 overall).
Shorecrest next plays second-place Meadowdale (3-1, 3-4) at home Tuesday and at Meadowdale Wednesday. Shorewood plays at Glacier Peak (1-1, 3-3) Tuesday and meets Glacier Peak at home Wednesday.
In Shorecrest’s 8-7 victory, the Scots trailed Shorewood 7-6 going into the last half inning, but Shorecrest scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the game. Duncan Hendrickson and Kory Longacer of Shorewood each hit both a double and a home run in a losing cause. For Shorecrest, Michael Rigby hit two doubles, Hayden McNabb had three runs batted in, and Skylar Shibayama had two RBI. Keegan Small was the winning pitcher with two innings of scoreless relief in which he struck out one batter and gave up one hit.
