The Shoreline Community College Baseball team opened NWAACC Northern Region play on Saturday at Edmonds Community College with a doubleheader loss. The Dolphins opened both games with leads, but allowed ECC one big inning in each game to allow the Tritons back in the game and take the win.
In game 1, SCC led 5-2 after three innings, but a 9 run 5th inning by Edmonds put the game out of reach and SCC loss 14 to 5.
Anthony Ulskey led SCC at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBIs, Matt Cottingham and Gabriel Rochon had two hits each including a double by Cottingham. Jason Shaw threw four solid innings for SCC, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs.
In Game 2, the Dolphins battled hard, dropping a 7-6 game to the #6 Ranked Junior College in the Pacific Region (West Coast of the US) and #2 ranked team in the NWAACC.
SCC built up a 6-0 lead in the game in the first 3 innings but a 7 run 4th by ECC overcame SCC and the Tritons pitching held up the rest of the game. Matt Cottingham led SCC with 2 doubles, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. Skyler Frasier and Henri Francois had two hits for SCC as well with Frasier hitting a homerun.
SCC is now 1-14 on the season and 0-2 in region. SCC faces Edmonds again today at 1:00 PM at Meridian Park in Shoreline. The first game SCC has played in Shoreline in 15 years. Edmonds moves to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in the region.
