Alia Kelly Named SCC Softball Player of the Week

Freshman Alia Kelly has been named the Shoreline Community Collge Softball Player of the Week for her efforts last week against Bellevue College and Skagit Valley College.
Against Bellevue College on Tuesday, she did take the loss as the starting pitcher in first game but came back in the second game to pitch 4 2/3s innings of shutout relief. The pitcher/DH 3-6 from the plate, hitting one double and having 1 RBI in the doubleheader as the Lady Dolphins fell to the #4 ranked team in the NWAACC 9-2 and 12-6.
In the double rout of Skagit Valley College on Friday, Kelly got the win in the opening game to run her record to 4-2 for the season, allowing four hits and striking out four. She went 1-2 in the game, hitting a homerun, scoring 2 runs and having 2 RBIs. In the second game, Alia went 2-3, with a double and another homerun, she had 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs.
For the week, Kelly was 6-11, 6 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 2 doubles and 2 homeruns.
SCC returns to action on Tuesday at 2:00 PM as they take on rival Everett Community College in Everett, WA. SCC is 10-9-2 on the year and 5-3 in the region. The top five teams in the region are all within 2 games of each other, and only the top four teams go to the NWAACC Championship in May, in Portland, OR.
