Lake Forest Park Police Department notifies citizens of sex offender’s presence in community

Friday, March 2, 2012

The Lake Forest Park Police Department wants the public to be aware that a newly released Level 3 sex offender has registered with King County Sheriff’s office and is residing in the community in the 4000 block of NE 197th St. To learn more information about this person, go to the Washington State Sex Offender Information Center.

This sex offender has been convicted of a sex offense that requires registration with the sheriff’s office in the county of their residence. Further, their previous criminal history and circumstances of the crime(s) place them in the classification that reflects their potential to reoffend.

The sex offender has served the sentence imposed upon him/her by the courts and has advised the King County Sheriff’s office that he/she will live at the listed location. He/she is not wanted by local police at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. We want to encourage citizens to exercise personal safety precautions.

The Lake Forest Park Police Department has no legal authority to direct or restrict where a sex offender may/may not live. Unless court ordered restrictions exist, this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he/she chooses. Citizen abuse of this information to harass or intimidate sex offenders will not be tolerated and could end law enforcement’s ability to provide such information to the public.

The Lake Forest Park Police Department routinely releases information on registered sex offenders residing in Lake Forest Park. Washington state law authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender release when, at the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety and protection.

The King County Sheriff's Office maintains a searchable map with locations of registered sex offenders (RSO).
