Volunteer Orientation to be held January 21, 2012.
Wonderland Developmental Center in Shoreline will launch a new volunteer program this month, kicking it off with a Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, January 21st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Wonderland classroom at the North City Elementary Building in Shoreline. It is open to the public.
Volunteers will be invited to participate in various ways at Wonderland including classroom preparation and assistance, helping with Play and Learn groups, fundraising event planning, marketing, and administrative office duties.
“We are excited to get the community engaged with our programs. So many people are passionate about our helping children with developmental delays and disabilities, and volunteers are a critical piece to Wonderland’s ability to deliver its mission,” said Michelle Stiller, Program Director at Wonderland.
To volunteer, people must be 14 years old and complete an application and DSHS background check.
For 42 years Wonderland has offered infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and their families a bridge to a brighter future through an array of services designed to nurture child development and to strengthen family units. Wonderland children reflect a variety of diagnoses such as speech and language delays, autism, Fragile X, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Wonderland provides these services to approximately 100 families per month throughout Edmonds, Northshore, Shoreline, and Seattle School Districts, King and Snohomish Counties, and the cities of Shoreline, Bothell, and Kenmore. Services are available to all families who qualify for Early Intervention Services, regardless of their ability to pay.
