Shorewood wrestling team heads into Saturday home tournament after close Thursday victory over Lynnwood

The Shorewood wrestling team will join Shorecrest as host teams for a Saturday tournament at Shorewood after a close victory over Lynnwood Thursday.

Tournament competition for varsity and junior varsity wrestlers begins at 8:30 a.m. at Shorewood.

The Thunderbirds held on for a 39-35 win at Lynnwood Thursday. Shorewood ran out to an early 21-0 lead after four matches. Senior Henry Schlesinger pinned his opponent in the second round of his match at 145 pounds to give the Thunderbirds a commanding 39-22 lead with three matches to go.

Shorewood improves to 2-2 in the Western Conference 3A division (7-4 overall).
