The Shorewood boys’ basketball team took a 72-69 double overtime loss at Glacier Peak Friday into a Saturday game at Oak Harbor and games with Meadowdale and Shorecrest next week.
Shorewood plays host to Meadowdale Monday and plays at Shorecrest Wednesday.
In Shorewood’s 72-69 double overtime loss to Glacier Peak, Shorewood took a 16-15 first-quarter lead before Glacier Peak took a 33-27 halftime lead and Shorewood went ahead 42-38 after three quarters before Glacier Peak tied the game at 55-55 at the end of regulation play, Both teams scored 6 points in the first overtime period before the Grizzlies outscored the Thunderbirds 11-8 in the second overtime period.
Josh Hawkinson, a 6-foot-9 junior center, matched his season high with 24 points for the Thunderbirds, who took a 9-3 Wesco 3A record (12-4 overall) into the Saturday game at Oak Harbor. Semir Kadiric scored 15 points, followed by Ben Andrews with 13, Gage Carroll with 10 and Taylor Freeman with 7.
Going into the Saturday game at Oak Harbor that had been rescheduled from Jan. 19 due to weather, Hawkinson led the T-birds with 264 points in 14 games for an average of 18.9 points per game. Kadiric had 205 points in 16 games for an average of 12.8 points per game.
