Shorewood boys return to Wesco 3A play Tuesday after winning two of three in Arizona tournament

The Shorewood boys’ basketball team returns to Western Conference 3A play Tuesday after winning two of three games at the Cactus Jam tournament in Phoenix.

After splitting their first two games against teams from California and Arizona, the Thunderbirds finished the tournament Friday with a 64-53 victory over Eastlake High School of Kirkland.

Shorewood takes a 5-1 Wesco 3A record (9-2 overall) into a game at Meadowdale (3-3, 6-6) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40 and “C” teams playing at 3:45.

In the 64-53 victory over Eastlake, Shorewood led 14-8 after the first quarter, 31-22 at halftime and 54-35 after three quarters before cruising to the 11-point victory. Josh Hawkinson led the Thunderbirds with 22 points, followed by Semir Kadiric with 14 and Gage Carroll with 13.

For the season, Hawkinson leads Shorewood with 165 points in 9 games for an average of 18.3 points per game. Kadiric has 129 points in 11 games for an average of 11.7.
