Photos: Red sky at morning

There was a spectacular sunrise on January 2, 2012 and fortunately, two of our readers were there to see and photograph it. Glen Gersmehl's photo was taken from Linden Ave near 185th, looking toward Aurora. Patty Hale's photo was taken farther east, from the Ridgecrest area, probably somewhat later in the morning.

Patty says "We usually don't see this much red in the early morning sky, and it lasted less than half an hour."

Ridgecrest Sunrise

I woke up this morning, and looked out my window

to see what the coming day's weather had to bring.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear,

but a sunrise so red and a lit up reindeer.

I knew the colors in the eastern sight would disappear quick,

so a grabbed my camera and click, click, click.
