Sno-King School Retirees awards grants to 14 Shoreline teachers

Sno-King School Retirees (SKSR) Unit have awarded $4,900 in grant monies to educational employees in Shoreline, Edmonds, and Northshore School Districts.

Teachers and a principal received 29 grants valued from $65 to a maximum of $200.

Fourteen Shoreline teachers from Brookside, Community School, Echo Lake, Einstein, Parkwood, and Shorewood received these grants. The grants will provide for new resource books, math materials, student atlases, pedometers for a PE teacher, music tutorial scholarships, and purchasing cooking supplies for developmental disabilities students to name a few.

The grant program since 1998 has awarded is over $31,000 to active members.

Sno-King School Retirees is a non-profit association whose purpose is to promote the general welfare of its members, public education and good citizenship.

A retired and active membership of 1200 includes teachers, support service personnel, administrators, and classified persons from three school districts, Edmonds, Northshore and Shoreline. 60% are retired and 40% are active.

The grants were open to any active member of the SKSR in any employee group that interfaces with students. Requests were made for up to $200 for use in facilitating work with students. Inventive members have used these funds in the past for activities such as field trips, art materials, books, computer programs, PE equipment, and educational games.
