Shorewood girls seek first victory in home game with Mountlake Terrace Monday after 63-42 loss to Lynnwood Friday

The Shorewood girls’ basketball team takes a 0-4 overall record into a home game with Mountlake Terrace Monday after the Thunderbirds lost their Wesco 3A opener at home to Lynnwood, 63-42, Friday, December 9.

Shorewood and Mountlake Terrace (0-3 Wesco 3A, 0-4 overall) meet at 7:15 p.m. at Shorewood with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40. Shorewood then plays at Oak Harbor Wednesday.

In the Thunderbirds’ 63-42 loss to Lynnwood, the game was tied at 12-12 after the first quarter, but the Royals pulled out to a 28-14 halftime lead and extended the lead in the second half. Kassie Rasmussen led Shorewood with 11 points, followed by Masha Shtikel with 10, Jennifer Thompson with 5, and Georgia Allfrey, Gabby Hager and Lauren Thompson with 4 each; Jennifer Franklin and Christine McCauley each scored 2. The Shorewood junior varsity (0-1 Wesco 3A, 0-4 overall) lost to Lynnwood, 39-35. The T-bird “C” team (1-0, 1-1) defeated Lynnwood 39-9.

Shtikel leads the Shorewood varsity in season scoring with 55 points in four games.
