The undefeated Shorecrest girls’ basketball team stepped out of Wesco 3A play Saturday with a 47-44 home victory over Marysville-Pilchuck of the Wesco 4A North.
Shorecrest had defeated Mountlake Terrace, December 9, 2011 and Lynnwood, December 12, in Wesco 3A home games.
In Shorecrest’s 69-31 home victory over Mountlake Terrace, the Scots led 23-8 after the first quarter, 37-16 at halftime and 51-22 after three quarters before continuing to extend the lead in the final period. Janie Uppinghouse led the Scots with 16 points, followed by Bri Lasconia with 14 and India Matheson with 12.
In Shorecrest’s 50-48 home victory over Lynnwood, the game was tied going into the fourth quarter before the Scots pulled out the two-point victory. Onyie Chibuogwu led the Scots with 18 points, followed by Lasconia with 15 and Matheson with 10.
In Shorecrest's 47-44 Saturday victory over Marysville-Pilchuck, the Scots trailed 12-5 after the first quarter, 26-23, at halftime and 37-44 after three quarters before outscoring the Tomahawks, 11-7 in the final period.
