SCC Men's Basketball Finishes 3rd At NWAACC Crossover Tournament

The SCC Men's Basketball team opened Crossover play by pounding Portland Community College on Friday, beating the Panthers 106 to 54. Shoreline was led by Will Acromite with 16 points and Earlie Dixon with 14 and Joe Bodman with 10. SCC outscored PCC 60 to 9 from the bench and out-rebounded them 41-28.
The Dolphins battled the 4th ranked Tacoma CC team tooth and nail the whole night, with both teams swapping leads in the second half and being tied several times. SCC had 3-4 chances in the closing second to hit a 3 pointer to tie the game, but the shots bounced off the rim.
Avery Scharer in just his second game for the Dolphins, led SCC with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Earlie Dixon scored 17 points and Will Acromite added 15 for SCC. Joe Bodman had an incredible 19 rebounds and scored 12 points. SCC out rebounded TCC 64-44.
In the third place game, SCC broke open a close game in the first half to rout Olympic College 113-91. SCC was down by one at half-time, 46-45, but the SCC fast break attack and deep bench took over in the second half as the Dolphins pulled away on the way to an easy victory.

SCC was led by Avery Scharer and Will Acromite with 27 points each, while Joe Bodman added 16 points and 16 rebounds.
SCC finished 3rd twice in two pre-region tournaments and will start the region season on January 4th against Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon, WA. SCC opens the home region schedule on January 7th against the same Olympic squad they faced today. SCC finish the pre-region schedule 6-5 while OC is 2-5.
