Local voters rejected Eyman tolling initiative by far greater margin than State as a whole

Local voters turned down the Tim-Eyman-sponsored tolling initiative on the Nov 8 general-election ballot by a far greater margin than the State as a whole, according to figures that the secretary of state’s office released Tuesday.

Initiative 1125 failed by a statewide vote of 53 percent to 47 percent.

Voters in the King County part of the 32nd Legislative District, including Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and the outskirts of Kirkland, rejected Initiative 1125 by a 64 percent to 36 percent margin.

The countywide rejection rate was a little less than 64 percent.

The initiative would have required that the Legislature, rather than the State transportation commission, set tolls, prohibited the use of tolls from one road or bridge from being used for another project, and prohibited variable tolling.
