December Shorewood Swing dance and jazz performance a smashing success

The Shorewood Big Band Dance held at Shoreline Community College on Friday December 9, 2011 was a smashing success!

The event featured swing jazz music performed by the Shorewood and Einstein jazz bands, as well as SCC Jazz trio.

The dance sold out again with over 300 guests swing dancing and enjoying the music. Dance-It! Instructors provided lessons to the crowd.

The event raised funds for the Shorewood Jazz band students so that they can attend the Fullerton California Jazz festival and Disneyland in March, as well as other regional jazz festivals this year.

Shorewood High School Bands are under the direction of Dave Johnson, Einstein Middle School Band director is Frank Halferty, and Shoreline Community College Professor of Music is Doug Reid.

Great article and photos Suzanne. We're so fortunate to have such wonderful music programs in our schools.
