Varied Agenda For November 8's RBCA Meeting

Things will be hopping at the November public meeting of the Richmond Beach Community Association. Neighbors will be able to catch up on other area interests after a couple months where all attention has been on the election and Point Wells. The meeting returns to its usual time, 7:30 p.m., and will be on the second Tuesday, November 8, in the basement of the Congregational Church.

November 8 is Election Night. Coming to the RBCA meeting is a great way to pass the time until election returns begin to be posted later in the evening!

City of Shoreline Director of Economic Development Dan Eernissee will make the keynote presentation on short- and long-range plans for invigorating Shoreline, with particular ideas about Richmond Beach. He will invite ideas and input from the audience and answer questions. Mr. Eernissee promises that Point Wells will not be part of the discussion, because the proposed development there is still a "distant 'maybe'" and Richmond Beach should be capitalizing on its own charms, today.

Shoreline Police officer and westside neighborhoods resource Leona Obstler will make her annual report on recent activities in the areas of crime prevention, graffiti abatement, traffic control, and community safety. Richmond Beach is statistically the quietest neighborhood in Shoreline, but keeping it that way calls for police vigilance and maintaining a friendly, helpful attitude among the people who live here. Officer Obstler will share particular advice about caring for Richmond Beach's particular attractions, like the Saltwater Park, which accounts for most police calls.

Also presenting will be Judy Kinney of SWEL, a time bank organized to allow people to trade hours of their skills and expertise for access to desired services offered by other members. The organization serves Shoreline, Woodway, Edmonds, and Lake Forest Park.
