Letter to the Editor: Speaking with forked-tongue

To the Editor:
A quote from Mr. Thompson's last mailer: "I will continue to run a clean and honest campaign based on the facts; I will not resort to dirty politics."
His attack piece on LFP GOV WATCH was neither clean nor honest and was most certainly "dirty politics." Long time political observers in Lake Forest Park cannot remember a time when a candidate sent out an "attack" piece focusing on a citizen's group.
It is time for a fresh start; we encourage you to vote for our GOV WATCH endorsed candidates:
For Mayor:
* Mary Jane Goss
For City Council:
* Brian Cathcart (position 2)
* Tom French (position 6)
* Jeff Johnson (position 4)
Stephen Plusch, Chair, LFP GOV WATCH
Lake Forest Park

Wow - I didn't realize that members of Gov Watch were such delicate flowers.
You've spent the past year criticizing the City and its leadership. Finally, one of them pushed back and you declare this to be "dirty politics"? Get real.
It is one thing to discuss the issues and the facts, it is entirely another thing to launch baseless & groundless attacks that are verge on the personal.
In fact, Mr. Thompson must be very scared to be seeing a citizen group as his opponent rather than the one who actually filed against him.
I took a look at his PDC filings and how many mailings he has put out, nine have gone out so far and there have been only four claimed on his Form C4s -- something doesn't add up here.
As for the comment @8:19 pm, it is typical of those who support Mr. Thompson and the flyer that is subject of the letter here - snide, a personal attack, baseless, and groundless, not based on any facts or issues. This country is based on free speech, people have the right to agree and disagree, the right to express their ideas, that is not dirty politics.
As for the efforts of Gov Watch, it is apparent that 3/4 of the Lake Forest Park voters agreed with their positions in the election on Prop One since it went down in flames. Mr. Thompson was forced to cut expenses due to Prop One's failure, not due to any of his personal and civic convictions since he voted to put it on the ballot.
