Former Lake Forest Park City Councilwoman Mary Jane Goss held a clear lead over current Councilman and Deputy Mayor Dwight Thompson in early returns for Lake Forest Park mayor Tuesday night.

The first returns showed Goss with nearly 54 percent of the vote to 46 percent for Thompson.

The results came with about half of the expected ballots counted.

King County elections officials had counted ballots from 25.8 percent of County voters. They project a final countywide turnout of 52 percent.

The ballot return rate in Lake Forest Park was just over 27 percent.

Goss had led Thompson in the primary with 49.6 percent to 46.8 percent for Thompson.

Goss ran with the backing of the GovWatch organization, which helped defeat Lake Forest Park’s levy-lid lift proposition last year.
