Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011, brings the second of the Candidates Forums sponsored by the Richmond Beach Community Association. Candidates for Shoreline School Board, Port of Seattle, King County Director of Elections, Assessor, and Justices will present themselves and answer questions.
This is a moderated event, with questions only accepted in writing and edited to clarity, pertinence, fairness, and to consolidate duplicates. There is a sound system, so everyone can hear. The Forum will be from 7 pm to 9 pm in the basement of the Richmond Beach Congregational Church, 1501 NW 195th Street (corner of Richmond Beach Road and 15th Ave NW), Shoreline 98177. All are welcome, not just Richmond Beach residents or RBCA members!
City Council candidates address the crowd at the RBCA forum |
Forum #1, last Tuesday, featuring those running for City Council, Fire Commissioner and Wastewater Board, filled all the seats, and was a lively and efficient evening. While most anticipated that the ongoing Point Wells development controversy would dominate the discussion, the somewhat-under-the-radar plan by the City of Shoreline to take over Ronald Wastewater in 2017, supposedly without a public vote, exploded into a major controversy and went to the front burner of election issues for both the Wastewater Commissioner and City Council hopefuls.
