Free event – 3 rooms packed with synthesizer goodness!
Pacific Northwest Synthfest at Shoreline Community College
10am-5pm, Saturday, October 29
Head over to Shoreline Community College Saturday, October 29, for the 2011 Pacific Northwest Synthfest, a free hands-on event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy three rooms packed with synthesizer goodness.
Manufacturers who will be showing their products are Antimatter Audio, Circuit Abbey, Division 6, Flight of Harmony, The Harvestman, John Bowen Designs, Madrona Labs, Malekko Heavy Industry, Mattson Mini Modular and Synthwerks.
The Synth Petting Zoo will be in room 820. Bring your gear, meet and interface with fellow enthusiasts – all noisemakers welcome – DIY, circuit bending, modular gear, keyboards, rack and desktop synths, drum machines and more. If your device can be used to synthesize, control and manipulate sound, it is welcome.
Shoreline Community College will provide 10 roll-around powered Pro Tools recording stations/tables and monitors. Other tables will be available for larger rigs. It is suggested that you bring your own table if you have one.
Enjoy demonstrations of the newest products by local manufacturers and ask questions in the Explanatorium, room 818. Attendees can also use the room and adjacent control rooms for focused demos. It is suggested that participants sign up if they want to do a 10-minute demo. Additionally, James Husted from Synthwerks will give a lecture on modular synthesizer history.
Take a closer look at new technologies in a less chaotic space than the petting zoo in the Special Focus Room, room 806.
The event will be held in rooms 818, 820 and 806 of the Music Building (800) on the east side of campus near the southeast entrance to the college.
