Shorewood volleyball team takes winning record into Wednesday home match with Glacier Peak after 3-0 victory over Getchell and upset win over Oak Harbor; Shorecrest has home matches Monday and Tuesday

The Shorewood volleyball team takes a 4-3 Wesco 3A record (5-4 overall) into a Wednesday home match with Glacier Peak after a 3-0 victory at Marysville Getchell Thursday and an upset win over Oak Harbor two days earlier.

Shorecrest, meanwhile, takes a 0-4. 1-7 record into matches Monday at Marysville-Getchell (0-5, 0-7) and Wednesday at Everett after a 3-0 home loss to Glacier Peak Thursday.

All three matches start at 7 pm.

In Shorewood’s 3-0 victory over Marysville-Getchell, Madison Welsh scored seven kills and eight aces for the Thunderbirds and Marianne Kellogg had 21 assists. Molly Whipple added seven kills in Shorewood’s 25-19, 25-16, 25-5 victory.

Shorewood upset Oak Harbor in four games. 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19. Oak Harbor had been undefeated in league play.

Shorewood was led by Whipple with 18 kills, seven blocks and 22 digs, Monica Postor had 16 kills, four service aces and 19 digs. Welsh had 15 kills and eight digs. Kellogg had 37 assists, and libero Dana Brindle had 22 digs.

In Shorecrest’s 3-0 loss to Glacier Peak, Stephanie Taylor had ten assists; Aiko Canfield scored five kills, nine digs and three blocks; and Diana Conwell had five blocks for the Scots, who lost 25-13, 25-11.

The previous week, Shorewood had lost to Lynnwood, 3-0, September 28, and Everett, 3-1, September 29.

In the loss to Lynnwood, Brindle had 13 digs, Kellogg had 14 assists, and Postor had nine kills.

In the loss to Everett, Whipple had 18 kills and five blocks; Kellogg had 25 assists; Postor had 18 kills; and Brindle had 13 digs.

Shorecrest had lost a 3-0 home match to Oak Harbor, September 29, 25-13, 25-17 and 25-15, Conwell had 13 kills, four blocks and 10 digs; Canfield scored four kills. Hallie Williams scored three kills.
