The Puget Sound Blood Center mobile unit will be at the Shoreline Fire Safety Center, at the corner of Richmond Beach Road and 20th Ave NW, this Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Most healthy adults weighing at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate, if it's been 8 weeks since their last donation. This year the Richmond Beach blood drive has been trying to encourage first timers, and so far a dozen people have added themselves to the rolls of those who roll up their sleeves.
Donating blood takes just 45 minutes, from the tablet computer health questionnaire sign-in to the cookies and juice before you go. Walk-ins are always welcome, but the Richmond Beach events have grown so popular -- frequently filling the bloodmobile to capacity -- that appointments are advised. It's easy: go to the website or call 1-800-398-7888.
