Women’s Game
The Shoreline Community College Soccer Teams were swept by Walla Walla Community College on Monday at the Dolphin Soccer Field on the Shoreline campus.
In the women’s game, the powerful Walla Walla team found it tough going against the stubborn SCC defense, but WWCC broke through at the 31st minute and followed up again shortly later to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, injuries starting taking its toll on SCC, as they lost their starting goal-keeper and a couple of other players and Walla Walla took advantage, scoring 3 goals in the 13 minutes to put the game out of reach.
The game was stopped in the 85th minute as a back injury to one SCC player needed emergency response help and the game was called with WWCC up 6-0.
SCC falls to 0-1-2 on the season while Walla Walla moves to 3-0. WWCC has won their three games by the total of 15 goals to 0. SCC has 9 days to recover from its injuries and plays Olympic College on September 14th at the Dolphin Soccer Field at 2:00 PM. The game is part of the region counting crossover games with the NWAACC Western Division and will count in the North Region standings.
Men’s Game
The SCC Men’s Soccer Team battled a tough Walla Walla team to a 2-0 loss on Monday at the Dolphin Soccer Field. SCC played much better in this match than its games last week at the NWAACC “Friendlies” tournament where it lost 3-1 and 5-1.
The Dolphin defense played well, holding WWCC to one goal each half but again, its offense struggled, only having four shots on goal for the game. SCC scored first in its two previous losses, only to struggle the rest of the time and its defense unable to slow down their opponents.
Kyle Menchaca led WWCC scoring both goals in the game.
SCC is now 0-3-0 on the season, but is reminded, it started the season in 2010 0-7-2 before winning 8 straight games and reaching the final four of the NWAACC Championship. SCC plays Trinity Lutheran College on Wednesday, September 7th at 3:00 PM at the Dolphin Soccer Field. Trinity Lutheran is from Everett, WA. Walla Walla is now 2-1 on the season.
