Shorewood volleyball team sweeps Shorecrest 3-0 Monday

The Shorewood volleyball team swept Shorecrest 3-0 Monday, September 26, 2011 at Shorewood in the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

The Thunderbirds and Scots meet again October 24 at Shorecrest.

Shorewood takes a 2-1 Wesco 3A record (3-2 overall) into a Wednesday match at Lynnwood (2-1, 3-1).

Shorecrest takes a 0-4, 1-5 record into a Thursday home match with Oak Harbor.

In the Shorewood 3-0 victory over Shorecrest, the Thunderbirds won the three games, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-19. Monica Postor scored 11 kills and six aces for the Thunderbirds; Molly Whipple scored 13 kills; Maddie Welsh had eight kills and Marianne Kellogg had 29 assists. Diana Conwell led the Scots with eight kills and 13 digs, and Ivy Boad had three blocks and seven digs.

Shorewood's #36, Jane Tarabochia, is helped by #26, Taryn Miyaoka, and #34, Jessica Gaevert, as the team changes sides after game one. Jane turned her ankle in pre-match warm ups and did not play.
