The 13th Annual Ridgecrest Neighborhood Ice Cream Social was held August 18, 2011 at Paramount School Park.

More than 50 volunteers helped to serve the nearly 1,300 people who attended this year’s event. That would explain where the 21 pounds of chocolate sauce went.
The free event included a concert by Around the Sound Community Band, plus the antics of the Pirates of Treasurer Island and the Keystone Kops.

There were inflatables for the kids and Ice Cream Sundaes for everyone. Event organizer, Patty Hale was particularly impressed with the generosity of local businesses in their support of the event, especially during these trying economic times.
Equally impressive was the generosity of those who attended, as they donated almost 300 pounds of non-perishables to Hope Link – Shoreline’s Food Bank.

This year’s theme appeared to be “Children”.

You could find them in a Police Car,

or in the Paddy Wagon.

You could see them jumping up and down,

Or doubled up for draggin’.

They would climb into the Fire Truck to get their picture taken,

then run over to the slide – their screams they were not faking.

The reward for waiting patiently was just a little spoonful,

and for being very - very good, they got a whole big bowl full!
