Karaoke-BINGO October 14th
Have you been thinking about giving Karaoke a try? Well at the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center we have paired Karaoke and BINGO together to provide a night of fun. The evening begins with a couple of Karaoke songs and then a couple of BINGO games. There is fun and great food for only a $10.00 admission which includes a packet for 8 bingo games. Cold beer and wine are sold, and there is plenty of food and soft drinks offered; ages 21 and over. Call to make reservations: 206 365-1536. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and BINGO starts at 7:00 p.m.
Cooking with Chef Janice
Do you celebrate All Hallows Eve (Halloween) or Thanksgiving? Cooking classes will help you with new dishes to help celebrate. Classes will be held on October 5th & 19th. Hope to see new faces and past participants for more exciting adventures. Fee: Members $5, Non-Members $7.00, Class begins at 1:30 p.m.
Birthday Lunch, October 20th
The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center provides a free lunch for current members celebrating their birthday. The Birthday Lunch is very special: Roast Leg of Lamb, mint jelly, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetable, roll with butter, Birthday cake. Entertainment, birthday cake and prizes are part of the fun. A suggested $3.00 donation for seniors 60 and older, participants under 60 can enjoy this meal for $6.
German Heritage Meal, October 25th
Are you ready for a good old fashioned German Meal? Well the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center will be serving up a very tasty meal of: Glazed Pork Chop, German Potato Salad, Red Cabbage w/hard cider kraut, Rye bread w/butter and German Chocolate cake. A suggested $3.00 donation for seniors 60 and older, participants under 60 can enjoy this meal for $6.00.
Special Spooky Halloween Lunch, October 31st
What are you doing on Halloween day? Instead of going out Trick or Treating, come to the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center and enjoy a special ghoulish meal: Cauldron Coffee, Swamp Soup, Spooky Spaghetti w/Eyeballs, Graveyard Grass with Tombstone Topping, Headless Pumpkin Pie. Costumes optional, but welcome! A suggested $3.00 donation for seniors 60 and older, participants under 60 can enjoy this meal for $6.00.
PROBUS Invites, October 18th 11:00 a.m. to noon (Everyone is invited)
“Fall” into travel with a presentation by Tyson Verse of Alki Tours! Take a look at upcoming travel opportunities, and also hear about the Adventures of the Alki Tour Group stranded in Egypt during the political protests last January.
NEW EXPANDED VAN SERVICE
Seniors who live in NE Seattle (Lake City area), Shoreline or Lake Forest Park will be able to receive a ride from your front door to our front door. You can attend events at the Senior Center or come for lunch and other activities. The van can also take seniors to other appointments and to the grocery store. The Senior Shuttle operates Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All rides are free. Call 206 727-6262 to schedule a ride.
NEW COMPUTER CLASSES
The Senior Center has just purchased brand new computers with Windows 7. We have some new classes **and fees. There will only be 3 students per class for the new computers; which provides more individual attention! You can even bring your own laptop, except for MACs.
BASIC COMPUTER ORIENTATION
For the very beginner with NO computer experience. Fee: $50 for members, $55 for nonmembers. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Mondays, October 10 and 17
** CONTINUING BASICS: Email and Word Processing : Fee: $50 for members, $55 for nonmembers. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Mondays, October 24 and 31
INTERMEDIATE: Acquire Intermediate skill in using Microsoft Word, sending email attachments: Fee: $50 for members $55 for nonmembers. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Thursday, October 6 and 13
** ADVANCED: Learn to create an event flyer with MS Word, explore Skype and Facebook. Fee: $50, $55 nonmember. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Thursday October, 20 and 27
DIGITAL CAMERA CLASSES: Bring to both classes: 1. the download cable that came with your camera or a card reader such as a SanDisk, 2. your camera’s manual; 3.your battery powered up to take photos during class. For compact “point and shoot” cameras only!
DIGITAL CAMERA BASICS: For “point and shoot” digital camera owner: Learn about the ins and outs of your camera. Let our instructors unravel the manufactures manual so it makes sense. Fee: $25 for members $30 for nonmembers. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Wednesday, October 5 and 12
** DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: Bring your camera! Learn how to get pictures from your camera to your computer after a lesson on how to take good photographs, not just “snap shots”. We’ll do a “photo shoot” around the campus, using the new photo tips given to you. Plan on a trip to a local store to learn how to use a photo processer. Fee: $25 for members $30 for nonmembers. All classes meet 2:00-4:00PM, Wednesday, October 19 and 26
