Dia de los Muertos: Paper Cut Skeleton

Wednesday, October 26, 4pm

Ages 6 and older.

Presented by Nature Consortium.

Learn about Dia de los Muertos in this art workshop celebrating the Day of the Dead. Students will work with colors and shapes to create skeletons in the style of Dia de los Muertos.

Happy Pumpkin Stories

NON-SCARY stories for Halloween! Wear a costume and join the parade in the library, followed by stories, songs and finger plays for little ghosts and gobbl'uns.

Read to Me!

Through May 2012.

Newborn to age 5 and their caregivers.

Read together for 20 minutes for 20 days in a month, and bring a completed Read to Me form to the library to select a free prize book! Ask at the Information Desk for more details.

Game On! and Mural Project

The Game On/Mural Project (GOMP) is video gaming and manga art for 5th-12th graders! Gamers and artists in middle and high school play multi-player video games and create full-wall mural. Games may include Wii, DDR, Guitar Hero, Cooking Mama and others. Bring your talents to the library and get GOMP!

Presented by Elizabeth Payne, University of Washington Center for Public Health and Nutrition.

Television use is at an all-time high among preschoolers—according to Nielsen, young children spend, on average, more than 24 hours a week watching TV. This number does not even include video games, computers and TV watched outside the home.

Learn ways to reduce the amount of time children spend in front of screens, set guidelines on screen time and communicate with parents about limiting screen time at home.

Provides one credit hour in Health, Safety and Nutrition.

The 1962 Seattle World's Fair--Century 21 Exposition--had it all. Come and hear authors Paula Becker and Alan Stein speak about their book, The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition: Washington's First World's Fair.
