To the Editor:
Re. Mary Jane Goss's oft-repreated campaign claim, "Mary Jane Goss knows how to get the City out of its financial troubles and will do it by listening to our citizens." (from Jean Bryant's Letter to the Editor):
I DO want a Mayor who will listen to our citizens. However, that is not my experience of Mary Jane Goss. I remember when I attended City Council meetings during Mary Jane Goss's tenure as a Councilwoman, I was often distressed by her ignoring of people who were speaking before the Council. She would sit there and read her mail, or murmur to her colleague, while people were speaking, hardly evidence of her capacity to listen. When I served with her on a City task force, she was often inattentive to the subject of the discussion. She has a public record in Lake Forest Park. Let us pay attention to her public record, rather than to the words of her campaign.
So I don't give credence to her claim that we should elect her because she will listen to our citizens--nor that she can get our city out of financial troubles. Where is the evidence for that claim in her public record?
