Former Lake Forest Park City Councilwoman Mary Jane Goss led the final primary election count for mayor Wednesday, falling just short of a majority, with 49.64 percent of the vote to 46.78 percent for current Council member and Deputy Mayor Dwight Thompson.
Goss and Thompson will now meet on the November 8 general election ballot, now that candidate Stan Lippmann has been eliminated with 2.94 percent of the primary vote.
King County posted final primary election results Wednesday following a meeting of the County canvassing board.
The canvassing board consists of the County elections director, the chairman of the County Council and the County prosecuting attorney.
Lake Forest Park finished with the highest voter turnout in King County, with more than 42 percent of LFP ballots returned, compared to a countywide average of 30.83 percent.
Goss and Thompson will now battle for the votes of the thousands of people who didn’t participate in the primary,
In the last City election two years ago, 2,440 more LFP voters cast ballots in the general election than in the primary,
