The Northshore Fire Department, located at 7220 NE 181st Street, Kenmore, WA 98028, will host a brief ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001.
The memorial will begin at 6:45am with a moment of silence at 6:59am, the time of the collapse of Tower Number One. This event will also dedicate the 9/11 memorial display that includes a section of steel recovered from the site of the collapsed World Trade Center Towers in New York City.
The memorial will be held at the new Northshore Fire Department Headquarters Station 51 lobby. The station lobby will be open for visitors from 6:30am until 1pm on Sunday, September 11, and Monday through Friday during regular business hours thereafter.
The 9/11 Memorial is dedicated to the memory of all whose lives were taken in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and honors the families, friends and loved ones of the 9/11 victims whose lives will never be the same.
Three hundred forty-three firefighters were among the nearly 3,000 lives lost in New York City, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, PA.
The Northshore Fire Department, serving Kenmore and Lake Forest Park, is proud to have been awarded a piece of steel recovered from the rubble of the collapsed World Trade Center.
The fire department would like to acknowledge the following individuals and companies for their donations to the project: Jim Phillips, Michael Homchick Stoneworks, Lake City Picture Framing and Fruhling Sand and Topsoil – Bothell.
Special thanks to Lieutenant Steve Loutsis who suggested the project and Battalion Chief Douglas Knight who championed the project to completion.
