Quick-Start Shoreline Business Workshop, Tuesday July 5
Monday, July 4, 2011
The Tuesday Quick-Start Shoreline Business Workshop for start-up, existing or potential business owners will be held on July 5th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at Shoreline City Hall, 17500 Midvale Ave N.
Quick-Start Shoreline is presented by Shoreline Community College Small Business Accelerator and the City of Shoreline. The sessions are free and open to the public; feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or a snack.
Writing your business intro and Elevator Pitch
This workshop is a hands-on opportunity to learn to introduce yourself in a way that excites and intrigues your audience and makes people want to know more! Whenever you introduce yourself and your company, whether at a networking event, cocktail party, or in the proverbial elevator, you could be speaking to your next customer. Make sure your answer helps them understand what you do, remember you later, and be eager to work with you!
Who should come to this event? Anyone who...
- gets a little stuck delivering an elevator speech.
- has an elevator speech that sounds stilted or memorized.
- just wants to practice and polish an elevator speech.
- hasn't even started on an elevator speech but knows they need to give a better voice to their small business.
In this workshop first we'll identify what catches someone's attention in an elevator speech and makes them want to hear more. Then we'll pair off in speed rounds to practice our speeches and get instant feedback (bring your business cards!). Come prepared to learn and share, and to network with other great small business owner.
Here's what a previous attendee had to say about the class (thanks, Joe!): "I can only speak for myself, but I got more out of her class than I ever expected. I got stellar results I could never have done on my own, met some great people, and had a great time. It doesn't get any better."
Attendees can expect to... start to introduce themselves to others more confidently and in a way that others will remember and understand. Attendees will also network with other great entrepreneurs.
Rebecca West |
Rebecca West is an enthusiastic and passionate entrepreneur and teacher. In early 2010 she saw a need in the business community for a way to polish and practice the 'elevator speech' and get feedback from other entrepreneurs, and started leading this workshop to fill that need.
She draws on her experience as the owner of her interior design company, Rivalee Design, and past experience as a ballroom dance instructor to help students present themselves with more confidence and success.
Whether working with her design clients or helping students identify their target audience, her approach is friendly, practical, and action-oriented.
