Photos: Shorewood High School - ground preparation underway

Friday, July 1, 2011

SAN Photographer Wayne Pridemore put on his hard hat and his press pass and took photos of the Shorewood High School construction site on June 29, 2011.

Let's hope the weather holds so the workers can get a lot done over the summer.  The kids will stay at the high school while it is under construction, as there is no location large enough to house the students in temporary quarters, as was done when the elementary schools were rebuilt under past bond issues.

Great photos! It's really something to watch.

Here's information I have on the impacts to the immediate neighbors:

Neighbors should expect heightened truck traffic next week and through July as dirt is brought to and from the site via NW 175th and the demolition begins about July 11. These will be the double dump truck and trailer type vehicles. There will be frequent trips in and out of the site.

We expect demolition of the portion of the 100s wing along 175th to begin the week of July 11. Site preparation continues as the crews begin grading the site for the new buildings.

The contractor expects 10-12 trucks taking 3 trips each per day starting the week after the fourth and running through August 8th (approximate of course). We are coordinating with the City of Shoreline regarding use of 175th as it relates to their Aurora Road Project, so currently the plan would be to use 170th for in and out traffic. If the City allows, I believe 175th is the preference, but to start we will use 170th. There will also be some work on Saturdays I believe.

The City has restricted the work hours. However, we believe that the contractor will be working six 10- hour days. There are expected to be about 11 trucks. Other trucks delivering material such as pipe, catch basins, wiring, etc. Also delivery of heavy equipment, and contractor worker vehicles each day.
