Shorewood student qualifies for national History Day event

Three Shorewood High School projects received awards at the state History Day competition at Bellevue College on Saturday, May 7.

History Day is part of a national effort to enhance history education and prepare students to become informed and involved citizens.

Charlotte Donnan won first place for Senior Individual Exhibit for "The Big Three: A Relationship that Saved the World." She has qualified for the national History Day contest June 12 to 16 at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her teacher is Lara Sukol.

Shorewood students Hiwot Zewdie and Stephanie Chan were third in Senior Group Website for "Stonewall: Stepping Out of the Closet Against Oppression." Their teacher is Mikael Christensen.

Annika Stenfjord and Kirsten Stavig were third in Senior Group Exhibit for: "Seward's Icebox:  Debate Over the Purchase of Alaska."  Their teacher is Mikael Christensen.
