Shorecrest, Shorewood both have Tuesday road District soccer semifinal games after Saturday home victories

The Shorecrest and Shorewood boys’ soccer teams both have Tuesday road Northwest District 3A tournament semifinal games after Saturday home victories.
Shorecrest takes a 16-1 season record into a 7:30 p.m. game at Mount Vernon (12-0-5) after a 1-0 Saturday first-round victory over Meadowdale. Mount Vernon opened tournament play with a 5-1 victory over Everett.
Shorewood takes a 12-5 record into a 7:30 p.m. game at Glacier Peak (16-1) after a 4-0 Saturday first-round victory over Ferndale (5-9-3). Glacier Peak defeated Lynnwood 6-0 Saturday.
The Tuesday winners advance to a 7:30 p.m. Thursday District championship game at Edmonds Stadium, with both District finalists moving on to the 16-team State 3A tournament.

In Shorecrest’s 1-0 victory over Meadowdale, Callum Wijelath scored the only goal, his twelfth of the season, in the 39th minute. Glenn Paden continues to lead the Scots with 20 goals and 14 assists.
In Shorewood’s 4-0 victory over Ferndale, Simon Asppinal got his seventh shutout, Thunderbird Jarren Petit scored in the 22nd minute, followed by Tanner Jones' goal in the 31st minute that was assisted by Colin Wilkins. Andreas Gobel assisted on two Hamza Haddidi goals in the 40th and 57th minutes. Haddadi's two goals gave him nine for the season. Jones’ goal was his sixth of the season. Sahil Kahn continues to lead the T-birds with 11 goals and 2 assists.
Going into the tournament, the Seattle Times ranked Glacier Peak and Shorecrest 1-2 among State 3A teams, with Shorewood eighth.
